The Isle of the Unexpected
The Isle of the Unexpected is a collaboration with Amplify and Jura whisky and is the first commercial portfolio project by AOD.
Made as a pop up one off immersive experience The Isle of the Unexpected was premiered at The Looking Glass Cocktail Club in London from 13th-22nd October 2016. Created as an interactive mystery adventure AOD used their signature style mixing audio instruction and interactive staging and the use of VR to create a unique spin on the whisky tasting experience.
The Isle of the Unexpected is a participatory experiential work that takes four travelers at a time through a series of immersive spaces depicting the life of William Evans, his whisky and the Island of Jura. Under the guise of filmmakers the participants experience four separate rooms; the journey to the island (including VR), William Evans room (with hidden letters), a KLF room (including an ice-cream freezer full of burning money and graffiti) and a cave and safe (harboring the secrets of the island and the whisky). An audio narration using 3D sound design and binaural technology leads participants through a series of challenges to find the true nature of Jura. Developed with Amplify and commissioned by Jura whisky.
